Go BIG or Go Home!

Nevada’s Golden Shower a Short One

Every professional wrestler strives to reach the proverbial Mountain Top; to acheive the moniker of World Champion.  On Friday, March 23, “Mr. Beefy Goodness” Vance Nevada did just that: in front of a rare pro-Nevada crowd in Red Deer, Alberta, the 19-year veteran defeated “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce to become the NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion.

If only for a moment.

Thanks to the internet, protests were immediately filed; information is hazy on this side of the Canadian Rockies, but it seems that not only did “Mr. Intensity” Mark Posey try to interfere on Nevada’s behalf, but long-time rival, Massive Damage, would ultimately spear Pearce out of his boots and give Nevada the questionable victory.  In yet another controversial move by the National Wrestling Alliance, the Board of Directors stripped Nevada of the title and returned it to Pearce on Saturday, March 24…ironically, so Pearce could defend the belt against none other than the Tattooted Terminator.  One would have to assume that Massive’s interference was not to aid Nevada or Posey, two men he’s feuded with for many years.

After Twitter blew up late Friday night with the news of Nevada’s championship glory, Facebook was abuzz the next day.

Adam Pearce:  “It took 12 hours, but justice is served. SUCCESS in Red Deer. Massive Damage will pay [March 24] in Lloydminster, Alberta.”

Vance Nevada: “…disappointed to learn of the NWA’s ruling this morning, furious with Massive Damage for costing me the world title, and grateful for my loyal friends and fans worldwide that have called, e-mailed and been in touch over the last 24 hours. Without question, I have the best fans in all of Canadian wrestling.”

Big West is still working diligently to get Nevada back in the Okanagan at some point this year; meanwhile, both Massive Damage and Mark Posey are tentatively slated to be part of Big West’s involvment in this year’s Rutland May Days: 10 shows over three days (May 18-20).  More info on that will be forthcoming, shortly.
